Thank you to all who participated in GeoPower Americas 2011

Green Power Conference’s GeoPower America’s Conference in San Francisco ended on an optimistic note despite ongoing focus on the cost and availability of capital. With Obama firmly backing renewable energy sources and the DOE on site confirming the government’s focus on geothermal energy, there is much to be hopeful about in terms of the security of the geothermal future.

The meeting was the largest to date and hosted lively debate on topics such as utilities involvement in Power Purchase Agreements, and the willingness of banks to take long term risk with geothermal projects rather than opt for the shorter term security of wind or solar farms. On the morning of the second day, delegates met for round table debates on a variety of topics and came away with valuable knowledge, contacts and advice.

The second day also provided a forum for the discussion of geothermal projects happening in Latin America and with all speakers suggesting that there is strong support for geothermal development and there are no significant transmission challenges, the region looks very promising.

Speakers who’s presentations generated particular interest included:

Dr JoAnn Milliken, Department of Energy
Anders Kruss, VP Corporate Relations-Magma Energy Corp, Magma Energy

"Geothermal Energy is poised to become more economical than fossil fuels in a short time frame."*

Geothermal is increasingly recognised as the most important source of zero-emissions base load energy the world currently has access to. With its tiny land-use footprint and low cost energy, geothermal is expanding rapidly across the Americas as financial and technological conditions develop to support it.

152 geothermal projects are currently in development in the US alone

Ensure that your business is ready to capitalize from geothermal expansion by attending GeoPower Americas 2011 and getting face-to-face time with CEOs and SVPs from major utilities, geothermal developers and investors, in just 2 days - including: PG&E, Southern Californian Edison, Sierra Power, Ram Power, West Indies Power and the US Navy.

The event combines critical updates on government policy, technology, and finance and analysis of new business opportunities across South America, Central America and previously untapped US States.   For all the latest programme and speaker updates, download our brochure today

Offering real project opportunities and bringing together key policy-makers, utilities, developers and investors from around the world, GeoPower Americas is the must-attend conference in the geothermal calendar.
