The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is the UK’s first mandatory carbon trading scheme targeting emissions from around 5,000 large business and public sector organisations. This second annual event looked at best practices in preparing for CRC compliance in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Case studies from DECC experts and CRC participants offered the latest updates on energy efficiency and carbon reduction strategies for CRC participants. The summit was designed to assist those managing CRC compliance to refine their carbon and energy management strategies, delegate responsibilities internally, budget for CRC participation and identify cost-savings solutions.
Joan Ruddock MP opened the Summit and DECC’s CRC team provided attendees with useful information and updates on preparing for the scheme April 2010 launch. Attendees represented CRC participants from the private and public sectors and were eager to share ideas and see examples of best practice across all aspects of the CRC. Along with carbon measuring and management, attendees were offered excellent examples of energy savings projects that will enable them to perform well under the scheme. The event also helped participants to understand any further issues that may have a financial or reputational impact under the CRC. |
