Green Power Conference’s Optimizing Wind Power Performance conference held in Houston (2-3 September) was a huge success with delegates appreciating the content led conference supported by a focused exhibition.

The event was attended by nearly 100 participants from the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and the UK.  With the ‘easy win’ onshore sites in the US having already been exploited the topic of Optimizing Wind Power Performance becomes more and more important.  The keynote session with senior executives of EnXco, Sandia National Laboratories, Garrad Hassan America, GL Industrial Services and Horizon Wind provided a clear understanding of the key issues:

  • The opportunity for advanced operating strategies to maximize wind plant performance
  • Understanding and closing the gap on plant underperformance
  • Latest developments in next generation wind power technology
  • The key role of parts supply/inventory
  • Transmission is still a major issue
